We look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful country of New Zealand. Click on the Map of New Zealand for a larger version. The indigenous people of New Zealand are the Maori and they named our country Aotearoa, land of the long white cloud.
Enjoy the world renowned scenery from the lakes, volcanic activity, snow fields and native bush to the busy cities and laid back small towns. Something for everyone.
New Zealand has a population of around 4 million (2006 census) with an additional 115,000 visitors like yourself who were present on census day.
We have two main islands, the North Island and South Island. From top to bottom, you travel more than 1600km's (over 1000 miles). The land area is a little less than that of Italy and Japan, and a little more than the United Kingdom.
The main tourist areas of New Zealand are the Kerikeri/Paihia Bay of Islands, Auckland, Rotorua, Taupo and Wellington in the North. And Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown in the South.
